The Value of Greenfree Underlined By Prestigious Golf Course Rankings

GreenFree, the country's leading 2-for-1 green fee voucher, has built a strong following over the last ten years by providing golfers with value for money. With over 1,000 golf courses now part of the market-leading initiative, the quantity of venues where golfers can claim half-price green fees is testament to that objective. However, it is the quality of the courses that has recently been underlined, as two of the country's most prestigious Golf Course Rankings were released by Golf Monthly and Today's Golfer magazines. The two publications, which are the UK's most-read golf magazines, selected a host of GreenFree member courses in their respective rankings list. Through GreenFree, golfers therefore have the opportunity to play some of the best golf courses in the country for half the usual price.
 
Both panels take several criteria into account when compiling their rankings, including course design, condition, and clubhouse facilities, ensuring the credibility of the courses included. Golf Monthly featured twenty two GreenFree courses in their highly-regarded Top 200, while Today's Golfer named seven amongst their Top 100.

Operating throughout the UK & Ireland, some of the high-profile venues included in GreenFree and featuring in the respective rankings include The Grove, host of the 2006 World Golf Championship, European Tour host venues such as The Celtic Manor Resort and Marriott Forest of Arden, as well as the likes of The Belfry and Royal North Devon. Although more than 1,000 clubs are currently signed up to GreenFree, more are joining every year, including over fifty in 2012. Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire, redesigned by renowned golf course architect, Tom MacKenzie, is the latest. Others include the likes of Marriott Dalmahoy, The Westerwood and Bowood Park. Adding to its appeal, vouchers are valid for a minimum period of 12 months, allowing golfers and golf clubs greater flexibility, contrary to many online booking services that tie golfers to a specific tee-time.
