The goal of the annual event is to bring the local community together in a fun and interactive environment, while raising money and awareness for two great causes – the Icelandair Special Children Travel Fund, and The Children's Hospital Boston.

Icelandair will be sponsoring a day of free ice skating and skate rentals in order to raise money. Proceeds raised will be used to send a child from The Children's Hospital Boston, and his or her family, on the trip of a lifetime to Iceland.

Additionally, some of Iceland's up-and-coming musicians will be performing, including Mugison, Soley, Petur Ben, and Lay Low. Furthermore, the award-winning Icelandic chef Hakon Mar Orvarsson will be cooking up his world famous lamb soup for all those partaking.

The 2012 'Last Bostonian Skating' event, organized in cooperation with A Taste of Iceland, offers up Icelandic music, film and culinary surprises, and much more between 1st and 4th March 2012 at Boston's Kendall Square Community Ice Skating Rink.
