Total Diving - Montreal Scuba Diving Center Donates to Project AWARE on Behalf of Every Scuba Diver Trained

Thu, 1 Mar 2012 00:14:21 EST

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA (March 1, 2012) – Total Diving - Montreal Scuba, a PADI Career Development Center located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada makes a donation towards ocean protection on behalf of each student diver trained, by issuing a special limited edition Project AWARE version of the PADI certification card, for each dive certification.

By making this commitment, Total Diving Montreal shows that scuba divers are willing to save the environment that they enjoy so much.

"This is one part of our commitment to ocean conservation and restauration along side our involvement in World Water Day, our practice of Sustainable Scuba Diving and our constant effort to "do our share" by being environmentally responsible in our business practices. This lead us to be the first dive center in Eastern Canada to receive the PADI Green Star Award earlier this year" declared Darcy Kieran, a PADI Course Director and President of Total Diving - Montreal Scuba

"As a scuba diver, in addition to gaining your new scuba diving certification with a team of dedicated PADI Professionals who care for the future of our ocean planet, you also get a limited-edition Project AWARE branded PADI certification card and... You can feel good knowing that choosing to support Total Diving Montreal is choosing to support the environment, our oceans and our blue planet" declared Sebastien Savignac, PADI Course Director.

About 100% Project AWARE

By signing up to be 100% AWARE a few hours after it was officially announced, Total Diving - Montreal Scuba joined dedicated dive centres and instructors across the world in supporting ocean protection with every student they certify for any recreational scuba diving course, at any level.

To sign into the program, PADI Dive Centers agree to donate at least $10 per PADI certification card they issue. The donation made to Project AWARE on their behalf supports ocean conservation initiatives such as:

  • Collecting data and removing devastating debris worldwide while tackling prevention and policy efforts addressing long-term solutions.
  • Securing protection for the world's most threatened shark species. Together, we are creating a powerful, collective voice to lead global grassroots change.
  • Strengthening shark finning bans and closing loopholes. Project AWARE and volunteer divers have been involved in several advancements for shark protection around the world so far and we'll continue closing loopholes in areas where they matter most.
  • Engaging divers in education and conservation actions worldwide.
