The Whoot goes Live! The Next Big Social Network has Arrived

Fri, 17 Feb 2012 06:00:00 EST

New York, NY., Feb. 17, 2012 – The Whoot, a New York City-based social planning company, recently announced the initial release of its website TheWhoot.com. Mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms will be available for download on February 23rd.

The Whoot (pronounced 'Hoot') helps users circumvent the tedium of texting, emailing, and calling friends to determine the landscape of the night ahead. Think of The Whoot as the simple answer to the question "Who is doing what tonight?"

'The appeal of The Whoot is the simplicity of the platform,' says William Quartner, one of The Whoot's Co-Founders. 'We're focused on helping people make the most of their nights by providing pertinent social information in a way that's actually useful'.

At the center of The Whoot are simple updates called Posts that contain the basic information about your plans for tonight (and tonight only). In order to access the site, you create a Post by selecting one of four options - Working, Staying in, Relaxing out, or Partying - which is shared with your followers. Remember, a Post isn't about what you're doing now; rather it's about what you're going to do -- or want to do -- tonight.

When it comes to being social, making plans begins and ends with identifying people that are on the same page as you for the night. The Whoot aims to answer that question through ease of use and ubiquitous access. 'Once we gain a critical social mass, we believe the reach of our platform – offered on the web as well as iOS and Android devices – will allow The Whoot to genuinely enhance the social experience for our user base' says Co-Founder Ryan Coyne.

Marc MacLeod, the third Co-Founder and lead developer of The Whoot, sees another nuanced benefit of the platform: 'Often, people become entrenched within one smaller group of friends and are hesitant to look outside their immediate social circle to make plans. I'm most excited about The Whoot because I think it has the potential to help users make plans with friends they may not have reached out to otherwise'.

Sign-up today at TheWhoot.com and stay tuned for the upcoming release of the mobile applications on February 23rd, 2012.
