Fellows of the R.S.A.: Work and Play with LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ to Build a Sustainable Future

The Canadian Fellows of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce  (FRSA) and Friends of the Society will be making big decisions using creative play and 3D thinking. Specifically, they will be working with LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ to tap into the power of their collective intelligence.
 
On March 7, 2012, at the Marriott Pinnacle Hotel in Vancouver, members of StrategicPlay® will facilitate a conversation utilizing LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ methodology to engage an enlightening discussion. They will be using this tool to identify future activities the group may select for project work.
 
'We are really excited about this event. The R.S.A., although over 200 years old, is new to Canada. This meeting represents the beginning of some excellent work that will follow,' said Jacquie Lloyd Smith, member of the StrategicPlay® group.
 
The topics to be explored include social issues ranging from urban design, environmental issues, and co-working space to building community capital, immigration challenges for new Canadians, prison programs for sustainable futures, and rethinking education.
 
'The use of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY™ to facilitate this conversation will allow everyone to select a topic that they feel passionate about.  The methodology provides a platform for each person to come to the table with their ideas and thoughts, which they can express equally and objectively. The participants will build, give meaning, make stories, and reflect. The process will allow for new insights, confidence to develop, and commitments to be made. When people build with their hands they use 3D thinking and gain new perspectives,' stated Jacquie.
 
The leaders of RSA anticipate that by the end of the session they will have a clearer idea of where the group wants to put their energy and effort. It is likely that a few themes will emerge to carry forward for the next planning stage.
