End of Life Issues for Your Pet; When is it Time to Say Goodbye?

Tue, 1 May 2012 12:08:31 EST

According to the American Pet Products Association 62% of all American households have at least one pet.  This means that most pet owners will someday be confronted with the question of when is it time to say goodbye to their beloved pet.

Several million pet friends must be euthanized each year. It is a difficult, emotional decision. When considering if and when to have a pet put to sleep, there are many decisions to be made.

Is it Time to Say Goodbye? A Guide for Considering a Difficult Decision for Your Pet, by Tallahassee, FL author Timothy J. O'Brien, M.S. is an 80 page book, and has been released as a FREE download by its publisher ISMPI, Inc. at www.petlossgriefguide.com/time.

'Is it time to say goodbye? Provides a step by step, guide through the maze of all the difficult considerations that go into a compassionate and timely decision,' says author Timothy J. O'Brien, M.S.

Veterinarian, Dr. Alex Steverson, Jr, said: 'What a great resource... We will definitely use it in our practice. This book deals with all the questions we struggle with when a pet is approaching the end of their life.'

Chuck Mitchell a Nationally Certified Therapy Animal Evaluator says, 'This book fills a much needed gap in pet ownership... It is a valuable resource.'

'This is a superb resource! The tone is one that legitimizes the human-animal bond and the angst one might deal with in having to make the decision to say goodbye,' said Dr. Mary Pilgram, an Assistant Professor of Communication at Washburn University.

Timothy J. O'Brien, M.S. is the director of the Institute for Stress Management and Performance Improvement in Tallahassee, Florida. He is the Author of 'A Season for Healing a Reason for Hope' and 'You will always be a part of me,' two Grief Support Programs for grieving the loss of human loved ones and beloved pets.
