People are often discouraged from buying high quality original artworks because of the price and availability.

The Treetops Montessori School's 30x30x30 Artists Challenge (30x30x30) is on track to exhibit and offer for sale 900 magnificent works at an extravaganza of affordable art for everyone.

Coordinator of the 30x30x30 Ms Bartle said they had over 150 artists apply either in groups or as individuals and that the quality was very high.

"The applications came from all over Australia and even the UK," said Ms Bartle.

"We will have 900 amazing works to exhibit and offer for sale at the Darlington Hall in September."

Ms Kendra Buss the 30x30x30 Artworks Manager said the works have begun.

"Artists have started collecting their 30 canvasses to complete in 30 days," said Ms Buss.

"It is exciting meeting the selected artists who are very keen to begin their challenge."

Ms Helen Carter, Publicity & Sponsorship Officer for the event said that people are already saying they don't want to miss this extravaganza.

"Everyone I speak to wants to be involved right from the start and are marking the date in their diaries so they don't miss out," said Ms Carter.

"It will be great fun to watch 900 magnificent works disappear off the walls and into the hands of people eager to purchase an original for $50."

The 30x30x30 is already proving to be a huge success because:

  • It has appealed to a high calibre of artists inspired by the challenge to produce such a volume of work within the limited time frame
  • It's success is completely reliant on the principles of giving back and working together
  • It is promoting partnerships within the community across many groups of people from Local Government to the general public, schools and artists communities to local business and large multi national companies
  • It offers more people an unprecedented opportunity to purchase and live with a high quality original work of art

Founder of the original idea and artist Ms Flora Bowley from Portland Oregon said that the 30x30x30 is shaping up to be an amazing event and is thrilled to see it come to life in Perth.

"You will be overwhelmed with the gratitude of the people who attend," said Ms Bowley.

"When we did it we sold 700 works in 4 hours - it was exhilarating for everyone - artists, purchasers, organizers and the community."

The 30x30x30 Exhibition and Sale is on September 15 2012 at the Darlington Hall, Owen Road, Darlington - Preview 5.00 pm Sale 7.00 pm.

Ms Bartle said when she heard the idea from Ms Bowley it was too good an opportunity to miss out on.

"The 30x30x30 is a wonderful way to connect art with people," said Ms Bartle.
