Fun Fourth of July Facts

On the July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Contental Congress.

2.5 million people lived in the US in July 1776. This is compared to 313.9 who live in this country presently.
In 2011, we imported $3.6 million worth of American flags. $3.3 million of those flags came from China.
Mexico is the leading importer of US flags "Made in America." Presummably those flags were sent to them by their relatives working in the country.
$223.4 million of fireworks were imported from China in 2011. This was out of a total of $232.3 million total fireworks imported during that year.

City of Oxford Freedom Festival

Join the citizens of Oxford for their annual Fourth of July Freedom Festival. The events include a parade, an Around the Lake Ramble for senior adults, a pet show, a magic show, and karate demos. The day culminates with fireworks at 9:00 a.m. All events are at Oxford Lake. There will also be a golf tournament starting at 9 a.m. For more details visit OxfordAlabama.org.
