The host and reporter, Jon Beans, died on Wednesday from sickle cell anemia at age 50. He died in a Montgomery hospital, said Ron Simmons, executive at Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.
Beans had been with Alabama Public Television since 1990, serving as producer, executive producer for news and public affairs director. He has appeared on “For the Record”, “Alabama Stories” and “Capital Journal.” Beans also was a professor at Alabama State University for 14 years.
Beans will continue to live through his wife Sagusta and two children Jonathan and Kaitlyn. Funeral arrangements are still in the works.
