Dating and lasting romantic relationships

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Relationships are formed and sustained better when you understand how to balance giving, staying attractive, and commitment. Many people vigorously pursue romantic relationships by doing all the wrong things. A dating relationship starts with mutual attraction. After that each partner tends to express their desires by getting into the habit of giving and doing things for the other. Even though this may play a role in a relationship, it can also ruin it.

Why does this happen? This week I will be interviewing Richard Yates, a licensed professional counselor who practices in Anniston, Alabama. Over the past few years he has become increasingly regarded as an expert on dating and relationships. The Dating Tips that he posts just about every day to his Facebook account have become widely popular. His witty insight and his willingness to give blunt advice have led many people to anticipate his next post. His insights are welcomed not just by those who are just starting the dating experience. Those of us who have been in a long-term relationship for years – or decades – also experience what Richard says about keeping love alive.

As I have and will continue with all my guests, I want to give them the opportunity to introduce themselves as real people. Those who are in the helping and healing professions are just like everyone else. By understanding their background you can begin understanding what motivated them to follow the paths they are currently on.

You can listen to my interview with Richard Yates by tuning into WDNG News Talk 14.50 AM locally in the Anniston, Alabama, area. National and international listeners can access the program by visiting WDNG.net and clicking on the Listen Live banner at the top of the screen.
