My husband one of first on scene of horriific Talladega accident involving Anniston woman

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

A few days ago we reported a news story about an Anniston woman that was critically injured in a car/18 wheeler accident in Talladega at Eastaboga Rd. and the new 275 Bypass.

We had origionally recieved uncomfirmed reports that she had passed away but we are now getting reports that she is still alive but is in very critical condition.

My husband was one of the first people on the scene of the accident. He ran to the car and what he saw and the helpless feeling he experienced at that moment has affected him forever. He wanted so bad to just be able to do something to help her, but could only get close enough to talk to her as the car was so far under the 18 wheeler.

I had taken the day off at WDNG to go on an Honor Roll field trip with our youngest son. My husband called me very upset telling me of what he was experiencing. He told me what he had witnessed and was terrified that he couldn't get close enough to help, however he was close enough to tell her that help was on the way and try to in his own way comfort her as best that he could, and of most importance to pray for her. He prayed out loud in hopes that she could hear him though she was unconcious and remember that God was and would continue to be with her. I'll never forget the sound of his voice when he called me so upset. At first I thought something had happened to a family member as he was so very upset and couldn't even think to speak the words quick enough to inform me of exactly what had happened.

My husband has a heart of gold and since that moment he and I both have prayed for this dear lady and her family. I plan to personally try to get an update on her current condition.

We had a very similar experience in 2005 as we were on our way from Talladega to Gadsden and saw a horrific accident where an 18 year old young man was thrown from the vehicle. We were the first people at the scene of the accident and wanted so much to be able to help the three young men involved but were so limited. All we could do was pray. Two of the young men survived thank God, but the one thrown from the vehicle passed away as my husband and I were talking to him and praying with and for him. That has affected us both forever. We still visit his grave.

Those memories came rushing back to my husband as he was one of the first people on the scene of the accident involving the Anniston lady. We are so thankful that as of now we've recieved reports that she is still alive and we ask each of you to join us in praying for her and the family. From everything that my sweet husband told me and from the looks of the car, she is a miracle already just having survived this horrific crash.

Be kind to everyone you meet and love unconditionally. Life is so very uncertain. And above all, make sure that there is nothing between you and God that would keep you out of Heaven. That is straight from my heart to yours.

God Bless each of you!
