Last week, temperatures were in the 100’s. The Alabama Department of Senior Services wants to encourage older citizens to keep cool during high temperature days. Since senior citizens are more likely to have extreme health conditions like strokes and heat exhaustion, it is highly recommended that the elderly stay cool during these hot days.
Tips for senior citizens:
1. Stay in the air conditioning
2. Avoid hard labor outside during the hottest part of the day
3. Wear lightweight clothing
4. Drink a lot of water
Call 1-800-AGE-LINE (1-800-243-5463) to find out where local cooling zones are located.
