Gadsden police are investigating a couple of unrelated robberies that happened in the past week.
In the first incident, police say a 14-year-old boy was robbed at knifepoint at the Colonial Mall. It happened around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19. The victim's mother told police that her son knew the suspect, who was a male either 19 or 20 years old.
The 14-year-old victim said the suspect demanded his iPod Touch, and when he refused to hand it over, the suspect pulled a knife and stole it.
In the second case, police say someone robbed a 25-year-old woman at gunpoint around 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21.
The woman said she and a friend were looking for apartments at Johnson's Apartments when two black males approached. One of the suspects was armed with a shotgun, and they both got into the woman's vehicle and forced her to drive around Avenue G. The robbery happened in the 1000 block of Avenue H. Police say the victim knew one of the suspects who robbed her. "The men stole her laptop, checkbook and $110 in cash before running away," Captain Bobby Jackson with Gadsden PD said. Anyone with information about either case is asked to contact Gadsden Police.
