Police in Cherokee County are looking for a person of interest in the death of a woman whose body was found on a college campus in Centre on Wednesday morning. Police said Melissa Hudgins was found dead in a mechanical room at the Gadsden State Community College campus in Centre and they are now looking for 37-year old Vennie Leroy Keaton for more information in the ongoing homicide investigation. Keaton is currently wanted in Cherokee County and in Tennessee on theft-related charges, and a Thursday release from the Centre Police Department said the victim’s car was found abandoned in Tennessee. The vehicle has since been transported back to Cherokee County where it will be examined by forensic investigators with the Calhoun-Cleburne Violent Crimes Task Force.
