One person has died as a result of an officer-involved shooting at a convenience store in Childersburg, Talladega County officials confirm. The shooting happened at the Kangaroo Express store on Highway 280 in Childersburg early Monday morning. One person was airlifted to UAB Hospital for treatment, where he later died. Officials have not yet released that person's name. The Talladega County District Attorney Steve Giddens says the shooting involved a Childersburg Police Department officer. Giddens says his office and the ABI are investigating the incident, and declined to release further details. He says normally in a case like this, the results of the investigation would go to a grand jury.
