A preliminary hearing is scheduled for the youth evangelist accused of impersonating a police officer. Calera Police say "The Basement" founder Matt Pitt was driving an SUV equipped with flashing blue lights on I-65 earlier this month. His preliminary hearing will take place on June 13. Pitt is charged with impersonating a peace officer, which is a class C felony and is out of jail on a ten thousand dollar bond. According to the police report, a witnesses reported the SUV coming up behind vehicles, flashing its lights, and then "speeding" past the vehicles. When police pulled Pitt over, they say he presented them with what at first appeared to be an officers badge and Pitt claimed he was with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
