Gadsden's fire chief says a blaze that left damage to a meat packing plant is "suspicious." Firefighters quickly put out the blaze shortly after arriving at the AVCO Meat Company building Tuesday night shortly after 9 p.m. The building is located on East Meighan Boulevard near the Glencoe city limits. Fire Chief Steve Carroll tells Fox6 News his department took samples from the building and are still looking for an ignition source. He says the state fire marshal sent over a dog to sniff for evidence. The fire left no injuries to workers, and no hogs were in the building at the time. But it left extensive damage to the production area and part of the lobby. Steve Contris, a co-owner whose family started the business in 1976, says production will likely be shut down for 30 days or more until the damage can be repaired. And that will leave some 45 employees out of work for a time
