Alabama football star Trent Richardson attended Hueytown High School senior prom Saturday night, wrapping up a dream week for a 17-year-old cancer survivor.
Richardson and Courtney Alvis arrived Saturday night at Boutwell Auditorium. Richardson was wearing a white tuxedo and Alvis was wearing a red dress.
Richardson agreed to attend prom with Alvis after her uncle contacted some of his friends at Alabama, who got the word to Richardson. Richardson did not get the chance to attend his senior prom, but he said he agreed to attend because his own mother is a cancer survivor.
"I did it out of my heart," Richardson said. "I'm lucky to be here with Courtney."
Alvis was diagnosed with leukemia a year ago. She is now taking chemo maintenance treatments.
