Anniston city councilman Ben Little is proposing a plan to provide city jobs for ex-offenders. The councilman made the proposal during the pre-council meeting discussion in hopes of getting the plan on the agenda for a vote within a month. The proposal would carve out as many as 10 jobs in the public works department for ex-offenders trying to re-start lives. The positions would only be for six months. Little believes the opportunity would be a stepping stone to permanent work. He says program participants would get assistance in finding new work. The councilman stated that he got the idea after attending the recent National League of Cities Convention.
