The Leeds Fire Department and the Alabama Forestry Commission are working to determine the cause of a brush fire that burned several hundred acres of land.
Fire officials responded to the blaze around 5:30p.m. Monday and worked well into the evening and early morning hours Tuesday, attempting to contain it. At least two homes were saved by the responders' efforts. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but residents nearby say they heard a loud boom before their power went out and the blaze started. An investigation is expected to follow.
