Gadsden Police and Etowah County investigators want to hear from you, if your car was burglarized in that area in the last six months. Authorities expect to clear up some 300 car breakins, which included six marked patrol units belonging to Gadsden Police, Etowah and Calhoun County Sheriff's Offices, and Sardis City Police. A number of laptops, iPads, guns, cameras and especially cell phones, await identification at the Gadsden Police detective division. Detective Brandon Teague displayed a camera with "JEAN 2011" written on it in marker ink. "We believe this one came out of the Ohatchee area," just over the county line, says Teague. Sgt. Lane Keener says there are numerous ways people can identifiy their property. "Different items have different personalization, like many people do," Keener says. "Cell phones have different covers, we have a camera that had a name and a date on the camera." The best idea, however, is for property owners to always keep serial numbers on file. Anyone who wishes to claim property may contact the Gadsden Police Department at 256-549-4625 or 256-549-4500.
