A felony murder charge against Joyce Garrard in the Savannah Hardin case has been upgraded to capital murder. The announcement came a few hours after she and Jessica Hardin were in an Etowah County courtroom seeking to have their $500,000 bonds reduced. Garrard is now being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on no bond. During Thursday's bond hearing, prosecutors told the court the child ran for 3 hours while toting 8 to15 pounds of firewood. They also revealed a school bus video showing Garrard telling the driver of the bus about her intent to run Savannah until couldn't run anymore. Judge William Russell did not make an immediate ruling on the bond request.
