Alabama's tough immigration laws will be challenged before a federal appeals court in Atlanta on Thursday, March 1.
The 11th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals is scheduled to hear arguments on challenges to the law filed by civil liberties and immigration rights groups. The federal government also filed a challenge to the law.
Opponents of the measure argue the law leads to discrimination and racial profiling.
Supporters say states have been forced to protect themselves because the federal government has not done enough to solve issues with the increase in illegal immigration.
