On Wednesday, Governor Bentley will participate in the kickoff of the 2012 "Buy Alabama's Best" campaign. The campaign will run throughout the months of March and September and is designed to inform and educate consumers on food products that are made in Alabama and companies that are headquartered in the state. Alabama food product sales impacts the state's economy to the tune of $2 billion. Grocery and food service industries employ 25% of Alabamians. There is another important reason to buy homegrown products. A portion of the sale of participating Alabama products during the months of March and September will go to Children's of Alabama Hospital to help find a cure for childhood cancer. Governor Bentley will be joined Wednesday by members of the Alabama Grocers Association, the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, and the Alabama Food Manufactures and Producers Association.
