Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputies were in the Trafford area of northern Jefferson County attempting to locate two people who were wanted on outstanding warrants. A car pulled up to the residence of one of wanted suspects. Deputies approached the vehicle and noticed $20 and $50 bills lying on the floor of the car.
Knowing that most people do not keep their cash in this fashion, Deputies investigated further and discovered the bills to be counterfeit. In total $770.00 in counterfeit currency was seized. The driver and passenger were both arrested for possession of forged instruments 1st degree. The United States Secret Service was notified and will conduct a follow up investigation.
Arrested were, Richard Allen Phillips, of Wetumpka, AL, charged with Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st Degree $30,000.00 Bond,
Vicki Leigh Campbell, of Warrior, AL, charged with Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st Degree $10,000.00 Bond.
