A Piedmont man is charged with kidnapping and raping a child younger than 12 years old. Raleigh Rowan, 28, is charged with first degree kidnapping, first degree rape, two counts of first degree sodomy, and sexual assault of a child less than 12 years old. A statement from Piedmont police says the child was abducted Tuesday, Feb. 5 and was located that morning. The child was treated by medical personnel and released.
Police detained Rowan on Tuesday morning and have kept him in custody since then. He is now being held in the Calhoun County Jail on a $5 million bond. Piedmont police say the investigation is ongoing.
