Police in Gadsden have escorted a man to safety after he threatened to jump from the Meighan Bridge. Gadsden Police spokesman Bobby Jackson says traffic was shut down on the bridge Thursday afternoon while officials negotiated with the man. Jackson says the man told police he was distraught after an argument with relatives and authorities pulled him back over the rail after about 30 minutes of negotiations. Police say the man was taken to Gadsden Regional Hospital.
