The Gadsden Police Department says they have arrested a man in connection to an assault that took place in October.
19-year-old Luis Adam Rivera is facing a felony warrant for 1st degree assault for a shooting that injured an ex-girlfriend. Erica Buchanan told officers that she was walking with a friend near the intersection of Barron Avenue and Robinhood Road around 9:15 p.m. on October 11, 2012 when a vehicle passed by and she heard a gunshot. Buchanan says she then realized she had been shot in the left thigh. She was taken to Gadsden Regional Hospital for treatment.
Rivera was arrested Tuesday at 3 p.m. by Detectives Thomas Worthy and Roger Dale.
