A person searching for their missing relative made a gruesome discovery alongside a western Jefferson County road, just before 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to the 2200 block of Shady Grove Road, which is near Maytown, to a report of a deceased person found. Once police arrived, they found a 40-year-old male victim with obvious trauma. The victim's vehicle was found on Woodruff Mill Road, burned, on Thursday, January 3rd, about five miles away from where his body was found. The identity of the victim and cause of death are not being released, pending a coroner's report. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating this case as a homicide.
