The Calhoun County Commission recognized the retiring director of the county landfill at their meeting Thursday, saying Butler Green has made the Calhoun County Landfill and Transfer Station “second to none” in Alabama. Green wasn’t at the Thursday meeting due to the holidays, but Commissioner Eli Henderson still read the proclamation before adding that state officials have regarded Calhoun County’s landfill as one of the best-run landfills in Alabama thanks to Green. Keith Howell, a neighbor to the county property, attended the meeting and said Green (0:12). Mark Welsh will be replacing Green as director of the county landfill
