The Gadsden Police Department says a man has been arrested on attempted murder charges. Detectives took 24-year-old Marquis Levail Cotton into custody on Tuesday for a role in a shooting that took place on Friday. In the shooting, two men were shot in the 1100 block of Stillman Avenue. 22-year-old Jacques Dejuan Woods and 28-year-old Taylor Deuntae Lowe were outside of Woods' residence loading furniture into a U-Haul truck when they were approached by two black males who were shooting at them.
The victims ran in different directions, but both suspects chased Woods. Woods suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and Lowe was shot in the foot. Neither injury was life threatening. Cotton was found inside of a house two blocks away from the shooting scene in the 1200 block of Grant Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident. The other suspect in the case, 25-year-old Arthur McAbee, is still at large. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on McAbee's whereabouts is urged to call detectives at 256 549-4630.
