Two area residents died in separate traffic accidents Friday and Saturday.
An Ashville woman was killed in a five-vehicle collision along Interstate 59 Friday, and a Talladega man died in a single-car accident Saturday.
The Highway Alabama Department of Public Safety Patrol Division in Gadsden identified the woman as Martha Brightman, 61, of Ashville. The fatal accident involved two freightliners and three pickup trucks.
Brightman was driving a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck when the accident occurred near the 181 mile marker on I-59, near Attalla in Etowah County. The accident happened at about 2:29 p.m. Friday.
Two other people were injured in the accident and transported to Birmingham and Gadsden hospitals.
Talladega County Coroner Shaddix Murphy identified the victim in Saturday’s one-vehicle accident as Timothy Brad Oglesby, 36, of Talladega.
The accident happened at about 1 p.m., on McElderry Road in Munford. Oglesby was pronounced dead at the scene.
Murphy said the victim died from blunt force trauma.
Murphy said it appeared the 2006 Jeep Wrangler Oglesby was driving left the roadway, flipped, and the victim was ejected from the vehicle.
There were no other passengers in the vehicle.
Both accidents are still under investigation by Gadsden and Jacksonville Alabama State Troopers Posts.
