A Talladega man was jailed on a total of $50,000 bond after being charged with three counts of theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of breaking into and entering a motor vehicle, according to Police Chief Alan Watson.
Danny Damon Millender, 23, is also facing some 30 breaking and entering charges in St. Clair County, along with his cousin, Akeem Millender, also 23.
The first two auto thefts in Talladega were September. The first, on Sept. 13, involved a 1984 Chevrolet C-10 pickup, according to the report filed at the time. The second was Sept. 25, involving the theft of a 1999 Ford F-350.
The third stolen vehicle was a 1994 four door Chevrolet Caprice stolen from the parking lot of Citizens Baptist Medical Center Oct. 22. This last vehicle was later recovered in Curry Court.
The two vehicles broken into include a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier and a 2001 Ford Explorer, on Dec. 4 and 5.
Millender had his initial court appearance before District Judge Jeb Fannin, who set bond at $10,000 per case.
Theft of property in the first degree is a Class B felony, punishable upon conviction by two to 20 years in prison. Breaking into and entering a motor vehicle is a Class C felony, punishable by one year and one day to 10 years in prison.
