Alabama Governor Robert Bentley made a final push Monday encouraging voters to vote 'yes' for Amendment 2. The amendment will be on Tuesday's ballot. Bentley contends it's a jobs-creating provision that would boost economic growth in the state. During a roundtable discussion at the Birmingham Business Alliance, Bentley said he's hopeful the amendment will pass but worries the technical language in the amendment will confuse voters.
The amendment calls for the re-issuance of bonds to support economic development. If approved, Bentley says it could result in an additional $130 million worth of economic incentives. To the amendment's critics, Bentley contends it would not increase taxes or surpass the state-mandated $750 million-dollar bond limit.
