A new city council is ready to get to work at Anniston City Hall. Today, the new mayor and all four council members took the oath of office simultaneously, even putting their hands on the same Bible. Mayor Vaughn Stewart says they did that as an act of unity, to coincide with the "One city, one vision," message displayed on a banner onstage. The city's new school board did the same thing at the same ceremony. Speaking to a near-capacity audience at Anniston High School, the new mayor says unlike the loud, often controversial meetings of the last four years, residents should expect more "boring" meetings. "It's just like a child doing his homework before a class; it's much more productive if everyone does their homework, and much more efficient, better discussions. We will do the city's business in a much more effective way," Stewart said
