Another Alabama National Guard unit is heading to Afghanistan.
Almost 120 members of the 781st Transportation Company are being deployed to provide transportation to other military groups throughout the region. Relatives and friends will give them a send-off ceremony Wednesday morning at the municipal complex in Fort Deposit.
This isn't the unit's first deployment. The 781st previously supported combat troops in operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom.
More than 17,000 members of the Alabama National Guard have been called to active duty since the 9/11 terror attacks in 2001.
