Insurance premiums will be increasing for county workers in Calhoun County. Those premiums will go up 4.5 percent beginning with their next paychecks. County officials are reporting a sharp increase in the number of claims filed by employees, with the costs going up as much as $300,000 recently. County officials say the increase is meant to offset the costs of those claims. Calhoun County self-insures its workers, with workers paying 40 percent of the costs and the county picking up the other 60.
