The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office says a woman was shot in the face after being involved in a domestic dispute with her husband. According to St. Clair County Sheriff Terry Surles, the fight happened sometime between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 at a residence in the 2000 block of County Road 24 near the Blount County/St. Clair County line.
Sheriff Surles says the husband attempted to strangle his wife, and the wife got away and grabbed a gun. The couple exchanged gunfire and the wife escaped the house by climbing out of a second story window. The sheriff says the husband then set fire to the home, which burned down.
Both the husband and wife went to the hospital with injuries and were released. The husband is now in the custody of the sheriff's office and the wife is being interviewed. Sheriff Surles says the husband could face charges of arson, attempted murder and felony domestic violence.
