The State Department of Transportation says I-20 construction in East Alabama is apparently ahead of schedule. The project, running from Talladega County to Cleburne County, has slowed traffic down to 55 miles per hour. Bridge and lane widening projects are expected to be complete by late Spring. At that time, the speed limit will return to 70 miles per hour. The Tallapoosa River Bridge project in Cleburne County could be done this winter.
