An Attalla man has been charged with child abuse in Etowah County. Certanishta Pierce, 51, is charged with one count of child abuse for allegedly abusing a 16-year-old male, investigator Tracey Bishop said. The sheriff's office says Pierce allegedly abused the victim since August 2011. The abuse reportedly happened at a location on Owls Hollow Road. Pierce was arrested on Aug. 1 during a court proceeding. He is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
