The Gadsden Police Department says a call from a neighbor helped officers catch a burglary suspect on Wednesday. Officer received the call around 3:20 a.m. warning of a possible burglary in progress at A&S Electrical Contractors at 903 Nuckolls Street in East Gadsden. Officer Colt Gregory arrived at the scene and observed a suspect at the business carrying a spool of wire. Gregory quietly positioned himself to cut off the suspect's escape route and ordered the suspect to drop the wire. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The 30-year-old suspect is a Gadsden resident and is being held at the Etowah County Jail. Gadsden PD says the neighbor's help is greatly appreciated. "This is another glaring example of how the simple act of picking up the phone can make a difference." said Captain Regina May with Gadsden PD. "The department has dedicated officers willing to get out and beat the bushes and with the assistance of observant citizens we can have a positive impact on crime. We encourage and appreciate citizen involvement and the person who called this in is to be commended."
