A package purporting to be a bomb, which was placed at an Oneonta laundromat, was found to contain no explosives, authorities said late this morning.
Jefferson County Sheriff Department's bomb squad finished its work at the scene about 10:30 a.m., authorities said. "The package was a hoax package that seemed intended to look like a bomb but contained no explosive device," said Jefferson County Chief Deputy Randy Christian.
Oneonta police are investigating the incident.
Oneonta Police Chief James Chapman said an employee of the laundromat appears to have been the target of the package, which had words written on it that there was a bomb inside.
